Low vision is a term used to describe vision impairment that we cannot correct by means of standard prescription glasses, contact lenses, surgery or medications. This can be the result of trauma or disease and can affect anyone at any age. Our goal with these services is to make your life easier by enhancing the vision that you do have.
As everyone is different and can be affected by disease in different ways, the approach for treatment will vary. Treatment can include high-powered prescription glasses, magnifiers and telescope systems, tinted lenses, and video magnifiers as well. After a comprehensive eye exam, we can perform a separate, low vision exam, to determine what aids would be best for you.
Upon dispensing of these low vision aids, we have a helpful team member who will give instructions and demonstrate the use of these new aids.
To Our Patients and Community:
Following guidance from Federal and Provincial Health Authorities to limit the spread of COVID-19, we are restricting our clinic to EMERGENCY SERVICES ONLY. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. To access ANY service, including emergency eye care, contact lens refills, spectacle pick up or repair, or to ask any questions, please call us at 250-828-1554, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday. We are able to fill contact lens orders over the phone and have them shipped at no charge to a home address.
We are taking these steps in order to protect the health of our patients, our staff and our community, and ask everyone to take all possible precautions to protect yourselves and your loved ones.
